The REG procedure might take significantly longer to run with SAS 9.4 than it does with SAS 9.3. This is most likely to occur when the procedure generates graphics output with ODS Graphics. In one case, PROC REG code that takes 9 seconds to run with SAS 9.3 takes 30 seconds to run with SAS 9.4.

If you do not need to create any graphics output with your PROC REG code, you can circumvent the problem by adding the following statement to your code before the PROC REG step:

ods graphics off;

There is currently no circumvention for this issue when creating ODS Graphics output.
